Maya Gengarelli Ribot, LICSW

You are a leader in your field. You are driven and laser-focused. It’s what has gotten you to the top of your career. But all this over-functioning for so many years has led to high anxiety and now you’re burning out. The anxiety and stress aren’t just impacting your job; they are starting to creep into other aspects of your life and negatively impacting your physical health…

Hi, I'm Maya! I'm a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, and I help successful, high-performing professionals better understand their nervous systems to settle their bodies and manage symptoms of anxiety, burnout, and chronic stress. I also support individuals struggling with anxiety and emotional overwhelm due to infertility, miscarriage, and loss. I provide in-person and online therapy for folks in Massachusetts.

As a somatic therapist, I believe in the mind-body connection and address it in the healing process. I create a safe space for clients to tap into their body's wisdom, using techniques like body sensation tracking, movement, and verbal processing. My goal is to help clients release stress and trauma, cultivating a harmonious relationship with their bodies for emotional well-being and personal growth.

My background

I’ve spent my career as a therapist and clinical supervisor in community mental health centers, community-based acute treatment centers, outpatient day programs, and public, therapeutic & residential schools. Not too far into my professional career, I started to face my own challenges with anxiety and burnout. Through engaging in somatic practices, I discovered the profound ways in which connecting with my body improved my overall well-being and fostered a deeper understanding of myself.

In my private practice, I have found my happy place by fostering a healthy work/life balance, allowing me to show up consistently and authentically for my clients, friends, and family.

I graduated with my Master of Social Work from Wheelock College in 2013 (now a part of Boston University) and my Bachelor of Arts in Communications and Sociology from Fairleigh Dickinson University in 2009. LICSW #120110.

I have advanced training in several evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Attachment, Regulation, and Competency, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Trauma-Focused CBT, and somatic psychology. I am currently training to become a certified Somatic Experiencing ® Practitioner.
